Craft fair project.. Mini coffee cup holder

Hi all, I have been working on a few projects for my first craft fair in a few weeks. If you follow my Instagram you have probably seen some of my goodies there. This weekend I got my order of mini coffee cups (a friend and I split 100) We ordered them here... Webrestaurantstore.com you can also find them on Amazon Mini coffee cups and lids.

I made a template in my Scan N Cut  to wrap around the cup. for the holder I cut 1 piece of paper 2 3/4 x 7   and one 2 3/4 x 8 1/2 . score both from one short end at 1 7/8", then at 4 3/4" and at 6" on the longer piece also score at 7 1/2.
For assembly glue together (on top of each other for a base) where you scored 1 7/8.  For the outside pocket on this one I do not remember the exact dimensions I just did it to fit the width of the card + 1/2 inch so I could fold in 1/4" on 3 sides to fold under and glue to the front.

For this one I cut a slit along the fold on the back side leaving 1/4 inch on either side of the slit.

I'm hoping to make a video but I can't make any promises :) Life has been hectic and I have 12 dozen cookies due for a cookie exchange and I am hosting thanksgiving next week.... ahhhhh!!!!   LOL!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

How I Cleaned my Scan N Cut Mat...

Hi all! Wow What a week! I have been fighting with my internet company for a week .... ugh.... we had upgraded our speed about 6 weeks ago after they finally had their new system up and running. It was great till last friday (I was out of town) when the internet went out.... Arg! Kids were home for a long weekend so was not super fun for them  :(  I had hoped to get this uploaded sooner but it took a whole week to get thing running again. So.... here is a new post for you :)

After a weekend away scrapping with some amazing ladies and using my Scan n cut a ton I needed to clean up my mats a bit. Now if you are unfamiliar with the scan n cut but have experience with the other similar cutting machines out there the first thing you will notice is the mats are much different! Now for some this is a bad thing but I will say now that I am getting used to them I kind of like them. The adhesive is not nearly so sticky so it is great for more delicate papers. That being said it does not work great for heavier paper and card stock.

Before I had gone away I had added some watered down Aleenes Tack it over and Over . This definitely made my mat stickier! I did leave it to dry for over 24 hours. (Should have made a video but there are a ton out there on youtube.

DISCLAIMER! This is not recommended by the Brother company! If you muck up your machine because you use too much glue or get it outside the cutting area it will void your warranty!

Back to the cleaning of the mat part... I used a crocheted kitchen scrubbie (new and made by my mom since I do not crochet) water and some rubber stamp cleaner. This worked great for me!

Here is a video showing you how I did it ...

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Lots of holiday tags with the Brother ScanNCut and some techie stuff

I have been working on creating lots of Holiday tags lately in an effort to build up supplies to hopefully do some local holiday fairs. I wanted to make some shaped tags so I went to my ScanNCut... After spending some time with the Canvas free online design program I had what I needed for a couple 2 layer tags and some tiny Holly leaves for embellishments.

I really love the flexibility with this machine! I used a piece of scrap paper and got a bunch of trees and a ton of leaves... see here...

You can choose how many images to use depending on the space available and you can arrange them in a line, alternating or a jumble  depending on how you want the negative space to look if you will be using it or to best utilize your paper. If you are trying to fit as many as possible you still have the ability to manipulate each image individually. I was able to cut 15 backings foe my tree tags out of one piece of 8 1/2 x 11 craft cardstock.

Here you can see just how tiny those holly leaves are... I do have a punch but the smallest leaf is at least double the size and too big for what I want to use it for.

Here are 2 videos related to this Project :)

I hope you find them helpful!

Galaxy Inspiration, Cake and cards...

Hi all! As I was racking my brain recently to figure out a theme / design for my girls sweet 16 birthday cake I was inspired to try a Galaxy theme. She loves the galaxy motif so I went to pinterest. I found a few samples that inspired me and I thought I had the basic process down since I had done the process on card stock, surely fondant could not be too much different... Hmmm... yeah...  Well turns out it isn't but it is... It took LOTS of kneading and LOTS of food coloring and LOTS of patience!  In the end here is how the cake turned out...

I'm pretty happy with it! I found some edible shipper spray at Wal Mart and used it with a stencil I tore out of paper to create the wispy look. The grainy white "comet" in the upper right corner was how I fixed and "OOPS" I also added a few constellations I could remember from our Girl Scout Star gazing outing from years ago.

    Verdict.... She really liked it!

Now how does this translate into cardmaking you may ask... Well I wanted to try this again for some card backgrounds so I could use some of my stamps to make some cards with the night sky in the background.

Here is the video on how I made the backgrounds...

I still have to make the cards but at least this part is done!
Here is a basic list of the supplies I used

Heat gun
Ken Oliver Colorburst watercolors
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Stampin Up Night of Navy inkpad
Strathmore 140# watercolor Paper (Yellow pad)

Hi all!

I had so much fun at the Rubber Stamp Expo last weekend. How lucky am I that I got to spend the day with 2 of my favorite people. My Sis in law Cathy and my amazing Daughter.

Here are a few photos... There were many more vendors I just kept getting distracted by cool stuff so I did not get pictures of every booth :)

DIY tool caddy and cord holder for my Brother Scan N Cut!

Hi all! I'm so excited to share this simple DIY project with you! I was having a hard time keeping track of my stylus and remembered something I had made a while back for my sewing machine to hold my seam ripper and small scissors. The one pictured here is Sooo much better than that original holder I made years ago.

All I did was score some chipboard (half of an old Pop-tart box) and cover it with duct tape. It was super simple... In the video below I show how I did it and How I am wrangling the USB cords I use to transfer data between the device and my computer.

In other exciting news.... I got a new phone!!!

It is an LG fiesta I use it through Straight Talk.

It is so nice to have a phone that works smoothly! The camera is AMAzing!!! I used it to record this straight from the Youtube app. I also did all my editing with the Youtube editor. It was OK but I am so used to my VSCD free Video editor that it took me a few mins to figure out a few things. I do need to see if I can get the phone to stop trying to focus all the time though.

Anyhow....   Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to find something crafty to do!

Watercolor Daisy cards with Rubbernecker stamps

Hi all... I am trying really hard this year to buckle down and use the tings I purchased at the Stamp and Scrapbook expo. I still have some things I purchased from my first trip last year that I have not used! Ahhh.... what the heck! So... trying to be better at that! You may not see quite so many Haul videos either as I am working on using what I have.

There are links to some of the basic supplies I used in the sidebar >  As an FYI they are affiliate links

Here is a link to the Daisy stamp I used

Here is the video... I hope you enjoy!

These stamps really are so much fun and make beautiful cards. I personally tend to lean toward the clean and simple style so they are great for me.

Have a great day!

How I handle unmounted rubber stamps

Hi all! I love being able to create and craft on a budget. One way is when stamp companies offer bare rubber stamps. Meaning they have no foam backing and are not on a wood block. Below is my video on how I deal with unmounted (bare rubber) stamps.  Enjoy!

Get Well Shaker card...

I had a lot of fun making this "Get Well" card for a Co Worker last week.  This person does so much for others and deserved a special card.

I just love shaker cards and I have been experimenting with cutting out words with my Brother Scan n Cut so I made this frame out of white card stock with the words welded so it is all one piece. To make the white card stock stand out a bit more I coated it with Versamark and covered it with a holographic embossing powder. Then heated it to adhere and set the powder. I placed a piece of acetate behind the frame (I just re use packaging from other things I buy),doubled up some foam tape and cut it down the center to form narrow strips then lined the back of the frame. To cut the purple I used 2 frame dies then added the white window piece on top. I pulled an A2 card base out of my drawer (I like to have lots handy for when I'm feeling creative). I added Chunky glitter and sequins to the card base in the center then placed the window on top. I had to add the flower embellishments to fix a spot that got messed up. The Acetate got melted when I tried to fix a bit of embossing that had not set and was wiped off.  It worked out because I ended up liking the look.

Thanks! and have a great day!

Easter Cards...

I waited until after Easter to post this because I did not want to spoil the surprise for my friends and family that were to receive these cards.

The first uses one of my Riley Moose Stamps called Stacked Eggs .  I scribbled water based marker onto a pallet and used a water brush to paint.

The Patterned Paper is by Doodlebug designs. I cut both Riley and the oval with my new Brother Scan N Cut2. For Riley I added a .04 border and to cut the Oval I selected it from the shapes templates. I made the white dashes with a white gel pen. I would have preferred a stitched oval di for cutting it out but do not own one.

My next card was inspired by Pinterest. I had wanted to make it last year but my Oval dies were not large enough. With my Brother Scan n Cut2 this was no problem. Using the oval templates I was able to cut out exactly what I needed.

I really wanted to film the process but as of right now I do not have a way to mount my camera in the right place. I am waiting on a new clamp from Amazon so next time I can try to let you watch. It is a pretty fun process.

Birthday spinner cards

I had fun recently making some super cute spinner cards. I purchased the stamps and dies last summer from an expo I attended with my sister in law (if you follow my YouTube channel you may have seen the haul video). The Brand of the Stamps and Dies is Art Impressions and this is their mini cake spinner set. I did use a sentiment from Close to my heart instead of what came with the set.

There is a bit of a learning curve to making these but once you get the hang of it they go pretty quick.. I colored the cake with my Copic Ciao markers. I am still a novice at coloring but I am having fun and get a bit better each time.

Here are the other 2 cards I made...

Lovely Weekend...

Hi all... I had such a great weekend spending time with 2 of my favorite gals... Saturday I got to hang out with my Mom. We checked out the local thrift stores and the dollar tree. Then she took me to lunch! We had super yummy burgers at a local bar -n- grille.

It really has been nice having her here with us now. Not only can I call on each other when we need a hand but it is so nice to just be able to call each other and hang out.

On Sunday My girl and I ventured to the Cities. She drove so she could get some practice with city driving and she did well even though she was a bit rattled a few times. We did not find much to purchase but we enjoyed browsing. I just love the chats we have in the car. Honestly I really look forward to the time we spend together. It will not be long until she is off to college and discovering her life.

Things have been difficult at my job... we have had lots of changes and tension. I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel though and look forward to finishing the school year strong!

I have been working at my craft desk. You can check out what I have been up to on my Facebook page and instagram. I tend to post more there just because it is easier and a bit quicker for me.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today... Here is a funny I found last week that totally fit where I was at :)   Have a great week!!!
